City of Waterford Brass Release New CD
City of Waterford Brass are 77 years old in 2009 and are proud of their musical contribution to the heritage of Waterford City and beyond. The band celebrates this tradition with the launch of a new CD of LIVE recordings of the band. There are 18 tracks on the CD, 16 of which have been recorded since 2006. Several tracks are national competition winning performances (Ave Verum, Ejala, Reunion and Finale). More are part of the band's 75th Anniversary Celebrations in 2007 (Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Angelus Chorus from Maritana, and Agnus Dei from The Armed Man). The band were delighted to be joined by their many musical friends on several tracks (Highland Cathedral and A Gaelic Blessing). David Quinlan and Brendan Doyle perform two fine solos, and from the archives, we have included two recordings from 1986 and 1987 (Prelude For An Occasion and Glenn Miller Special). The performances are conducted by the current Musical Director of the Band, Julie Quinlan, by David Grant, Fergus O Carroll, and by Nigel Wilkinson of Oldham Choral Society.
In short, there is something to please every musical ear. At just €10 this CD will make a perfect Christmas Gift. The CD may be purchased from band members, in our bandroom in Five Alley Lane Sunday mornings from 11.30 – 1.00pm, or by contacting info@cityofwaterfordbrass.com.
The CD will be officially launched at our Christmas Concert in Christ Church on Saturday 12th December at 8pm”
